The Nat & Dick Show

Money, money, money. Must be funny. In a rich man’s world. Everybody needs money. You need money to pay the rent, buy food and enjoy your weekly extra curricular activities. On August 11 the Otago Polytechnic Council is likely to charge students even more money for their tuition. What the f***? They wanna charge me more money? But I already pay….(insert swearing violent language here)

Fear not people.

The Otago Polytechnic Students’ Association (OPSA) feels exactly the same way you do. We are currently in the process of organising a fee setting campaign urging the Council not to increase fees. OPSA Representatives are currently roaming the campus collecting signatures for a petition to be presented to council. If you have not signed the petition yet, please do so. We have also drafted a submission that is now open for public comment. If you would like to have input into the submission simply pop into the OPSA office and speak to your friendly Co-Presidents or if you have any ideas for the campaign we want to know about it.

We, as a student body, need to stand up and say “we have had enough.” We need to let Council know that we will not stand for more fee rises.

On another note, if you are suffering financial hardship and are unsure where to turn, come and have a chat with the OPSA staff. We have access to a number of financial funds that enable us to take the worry out of your finances. We can offer budgetary advice, financial grants, and short-term loans.

Go well in your studies and remember OPSA is here for you.
